Our Story
Welcome and thank you for joining us at John O'Groats. Opened on February 26th, 1982 by Angelica and Bob Jacoby, originally on the southwest corner of Manning Ave. and Pico Blvd. It was a 750 square foot A-frame building with a 20 seat counter. Mr. Jacoby was the cook and Mrs. Jacoby was the waitress.
The only meals served were breakfast and lunch so the Jacobys could have dinner with their sons, Paul and Carl Tyler. After only five months of operation, the restaurant received its first review in L.A. Reader. Soon O'Groats was being heralded as one of Los Angeles' best breakfast spots. Two years later in 1984, O'Groats moved to its current location.
